Working at Floatwell
Careers at Floatwell
A small team running five treatment lines from a restored Victorian villa, 500 m from Cambridge station. Permanent roles come up rarely. Paid internships come up more often. Both are posted on this page first.
What it is like to work here
Floatwell occupies a restored Victorian villa at 6 Salisbury Villas, on Station Road — 500 m from Cambridge station, with parking on site. Five treatment lines run under one roof: floatation, infrared sauna, massage and AI massage, skincare and recovery. The building is open Tue–Sat 9am–9pm and Sun 11am–5pm, and it is kept quiet, because most people arrive here to rest.
The team is small, so the jobs are broad rather than narrow. Whatever your role is on paper, you will also turn rooms round between guests, greet people at the door and answer the phone when it rings. We say that at interview rather than leaving it to be discovered in week one.
Everyone works to one named mentor and a weekly review, with the approval gates written down on the first day — what you decide yourself, and what comes to the founder first. Anything published to a public account, anything sent to a customer list, any offer or price, and any spend sit on his side of that line. The rest is yours to run, and the work you build stays in use after you leave.
Open roles
Current vacancies
There are no open roles at the moment. Every role we run is published here first — before it reaches Indeed, and before it goes out through the Combined Authority — so this is the page to check.
Floatwell runs paid internships through the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority scheme, and we read speculative applications properly in between them. If you would like to be considered for the next placement, write to hello@floatwell.co.uk and tell us what you are looking for. Everyone who writes gets an answer.
Where roles are posted
- Here, on this page, first
- Indeed, for as long as the advert is live
- The Combined Authority's own channels, for funded placements
Say in your email that you would like to hear when the next one opens, and we will come back to you when it does.
Paid internships with the Combined Authority
Most people who join Floatwell arrive through the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority's internship scheme. The placements are paid at the legal rate for your age, funded through the scheme, and supported by it at both ends — a review in the first week, and an exit review when the placement finishes.
Inside that, it is ordinary work rather than a training course. You get one mentor for the whole placement, a set weekly check-in, and a short list of things that have to exist by the final week. Our last two interns left behind work the business still runs on.
Eligibility criteria apply: living in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough, not currently being in education, employment or training, and the right to work in the UK, alongside an age band that depends on which scheme the placement runs under. Each advert states its own criteria, hours and length in full.
What an intern actually does
- Content — filming and editing on site, captions, the newsletter, and keeping the library in order so the next person can find things
- Growth and partnerships — local businesses, events and the corporate list, in person as well as by email
- Experience and operations — walking the customer journey end to end, front desk and room prep, and recording what actually worked
The balance shifts from placement to placement. Each advert says which of the three it leans on.
