Many people will experience significant benefits on their first float. Just like Yoga, Meditation, working out and any form of active wellness, floating is also a practice, the more you float the more you will enjoy floating’s cumulative benefits.
Please try to avoid caffeinated drinks for several hours beforehand as it can interfere with your ability to relax. Additionally, we advise that you avoid shaving at least 12 hours before you float, since the Epsom Salt solution can irritate freshly shaved skin. Eating a light meal 1 – 1.5 hours prior to your float should alleviate any hunger pains.
We recommend floating naked, however if you would prefer to wear a bathing costume, that’s also fine.
Of course. Just follow the same process you would for swimming.
Everybody is different and can react in varying manners. We recommend floating at skin temperature which is 35.5 degrees, as this is recognised as the ideal floatation temperature.
You will float in your own private room. There is no need to undress when dry floating so you can leave as soon as your treatment is finished.
Epsom Salts are naturally occurring pure mineral compounds of magnesium and sulphate. Magnesium plays an important role in regulating over 325 enzymes, reducing inflammation and muscle tension. Sulphates enhance the absorption of nutrients, flush toxins and ease migraine headaches.
Floating doesn’t require any swimming skills and with such high levels of salt the buoyancy is what will keep you floating.
Some of our clients do not want to leave our pods. A standard float session usually last for 60 minutes. However more experienced floaters book multiple sessions that can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours. We do also have night floating options for advanced floaters – please enquire at reception for this.
Yes. We do require anyone under 18 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We do not recommend floating for people with Epilepsy, heart conditions or ear infections. You will be required to complete a questionnaire prior to your session to determine if floating is safe for you.
The pods are completely in your control and you can get in and out at any time.
You have complete control of your environment. You can leave the light on or get out anytime. You can start by leaving the float tank door slightly open until you feel settled and relaxed. Being in the tanks is more like floating in outer space than being shut in a box. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems with their time in the tank.
The water is fully filtered 4 times between each float. A powerful pump and the very latest in filtration technology are incorporated in the design. Existing floatation tanks filter at around 30 microns whereas the i-sopod filters are fully effective to one micron which is an incredible 100 times smaller than a human hair!
Also the Epsom Salts are a natural disinfectant and are in abundance in the water – please do not worry you will not smell like you just came out of a public swimming pool or a hot tub.
Surprisingly your skin doesn’t even prune up, this is due to the high levels of Epsom Salts in the water. You do absorb a lot of Magnesium from the Epsom Salt.
Only one person per pod at a time. We do have three float pods in separate rooms, so up to 3 people can float simultaneously.
Many of our clients experience significant benefits on their first float. Just like Yoga, Meditation, working out and any form of active wellness, floating is also a practice, the more you float the more you will enjoy floating’s cumulative benefits.
Everyone has very unique float experiences. Most feel relaxed similar to wonderful massage. Be gentle and give yourself time after your float, help yourself to one of our complimentary teas and relax in our reception area.
Floating has been around for over 50 years (first developed in 1954) and has thousands of published scientific research papers to back it up.

Shiatsu massage therapy is a combination of many different physical massage and therapy techniques from simple stroking and stretching therapy to strong massage pressure. It was developed to mimic the different kinds of conventional massage, tapping, kneading, stroking and stretching.
If you’re in to fitness you know that massage is great post workout, it ensures the muscles are properly stretched and acts as a rub down to prevent lactic acid build up

Unlike traditional saunas which heat the air and this heats the people, infrared saunas use harmless infrared light waves to penetrate the body and gently heat it from the inside. This heat relaxes the muscles, soothes away rheumatic pain and stimulates blood flow by increasing your heartrate. You still sweat like you would do in a normal sauna but, as the infrared sauna only heats you and not the air around you, the air you breath is a nice temperature and the warmth you feel is much more comfortable. Infrared is so safe, it’s used in hospitals to warm new born babies.
Because of the relaxing effect, infrared saunas are very effective at treating the symptoms of stress and relieving muscle tension. This, along with the way it raises your heartrate, stimulates blood flow to promote healing and flush out toxins from the muscles. Therefore, infrared saunas can help with:
Rheumatic pain
Chronic pain
Poor circulation
High blood pressure
Lowered immune system
They’ve also been shown to have the following benefits:
Improved skin condition – the sweating opens and purifies pores while stimulating collagen production
Weight loss – the heat and raised heart rate burn extra calories
Relaxation – the ‘exercise effect’ releases endorphins and other feel good hormones
Infrared saunas have no negative side effects and are completely safe so you can try ours for any of the above conditions and more or just for a lovely relaxing experience which leaves you with the same feeling as doing moderate exercise.
Yes, you have complete control of the temperature inside the infrared sauna from an easy to use panel inside the sauna.
If you become uncomfortably hot and need relief, you can open the door of the infrared sauna at any time to let some cooler air in. You can also step outside the sauna at any time you like if you need a break.
The type of infrared rays used by our infrared sauna are the same they use in incubators for newborn babies so they are very safe and because there is no steam and hot surfaces involved, there are no places you can burn yourself easily.
Yes, our infrared sauna is Bluetooth enabled so you can connect your device to the sauna to listen to it through the speakers inside.
Ideally, you shouldn’t wear anything at all and simply sit on a towel inside the sauna naked. The infrared sauna has its own room with a shower so it’s very private but if you would feel more comfortable wearing a swimsuit then it’s entirely up to you.
Yes, all toiletries, Organic Shampoo, Conditioner and Shower Gel are provided. Towels are also provided. Just bring yourself, make-up, deodorant and a hair brush, relax and enjoy!
Great to have you here! Here are our recommendations for a safe first session:
Sauna sessions should be limited to no more than 30 minutes initially and temperatures must stay below 65 degrees Celsius.
It is always important to maintain proper hydration levels during far infrared therapy. Dehydration will actually increase carbohydrate utilization and cause less fat to be burned for energy. We highly recommend drinking a minimum of 4 oz. of water prior to entering the sauna and a minimum of 8 oz. of water after sauna use. Water bottles are not permitted in the sauna, but we have plenty of water for you to take with you.
Please consult your GP if you are in doubt regarding your ability to use the far infrared sauna for health reasons.
We would advise you to speak to your doctor before using the infrared sauna while pregnant.
We would recommend speaking to your GP before using the infrared sauna if you have a pre existing medical condition.
Unlike a traditional sauna which uses steam to heat the air in the sauna, an infrared sauna uses infrared light waves to penetrate the body and heat it in the same way light from the sun does but without the harmful UV rays. As it gently heats the body, it makes you sweat and has all the same benefits of a traditional sauna but feel much more comfortable because the air around you isn’t hot.
To get the most out of your sauna, we recommend taking a warm shower before you get in but this isn’t essential but it is a good idea to remove any make up and tie up long hair.
For combination appointments where you will be escorted from room to room by your therapist there will be gowns and slippers available.
You will be covered with a sheet and towel or blanket at all times you are on the treatment bed and completely covered before your therapist enters your room. We recommend removing your underwear to the point you feel comfortable before your treatment. As your therapist will massage up to your underwear line you may prefer your massage without it.

This simple step helps to keep your skin clean and healthy, ensuring you wake up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated the next day.
Regular facials at Floatwell offer a multitude of benefits for your skin and overall well-being (see our prices here to make a facial part of your monthly routine)
1. **Deep Cleansing**: Facials help to thoroughly cleanse your skin, removing dirt, oil, and impurities that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. This deep cleansing helps to prevent acne and promote clearer, healthier skin.
2. **Exfoliation**: During a facial, exfoliation is often performed to slough off dead skin cells, revealing fresher, more radiant skin underneath. Regular exfoliation can improve skin texture, tone, and brightness.
3. **Hydration**: Facials often include moisturizing treatments that hydrate the skin, replenishing lost moisture and improving overall skin health. Hydrated skin appears plumper, smoother, and more youthful.
4. **Stress Relief**: The soothing massage techniques used during facials can help to relieve tension in facial muscles, promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels. This can have a positive impact on both your physical and mental well-being.
5. **Anti-Aging Benefits**: Many facials include ingredients and techniques designed to target signs of aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity. Regular facials can help to minimize the appearance of these signs and promote a more youthful complexion.
6. **Improved Circulation**: Facial massage and other techniques used during facials can help to stimulate blood flow to the skin, improving circulation and delivering essential nutrients to skin cells. This can result in a healthier, more vibrant complexion.
7. **Customized Treatments**: At Floatwell, our facials are tailored to your specific skin type and concerns. Whether you’re dealing with acne, dryness, sensitivity, or other issues, our skilled estheticians will customize a treatment plan to address your unique needs.
8. **Professional Guidance**: During your facial, our estheticians can provide personalized skincare advice and recommendations to help you maintain healthy, beautiful skin between appointments. This professional guidance can be invaluable in achieving your skincare goals.
Overall, regular facials at Floatwell are an essential part of a comprehensive skincare routine, helping to keep your skin clean, hydrated, and radiant while providing much-needed relaxation and stress relief.
