What happens if you doze off in the float tank?

It’s a common query we receive, often alongside other newbie-floater concerns. Yes, falling asleep in the tank can occur, though it’s less frequent than you might imagine. Even if you do nod off, your mind likely enters a state known as hypnagogia – the realm between wakefulness and sleep. It’s a lucid state where it’s hard to discern if you’re awake or dreaming.

For many, this state is akin to a treasure trove, particularly for meditators, creatives, and those delving into their consciousness. Floating induces a lower brain frequency, generating theta waves that heighten awareness, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. This state lies at the border of consciousness and the unconscious.

But is snoozing through a session a waste? Not at all! Even a brief spell in the tank can alleviate muscle tension and mental stress. The buoyancy of the salt water allows muscles to relax fully, akin to experiencing zero gravity. Additionally, the magnesium sulphate in the water benefits the body, aiding in various physiological functions, whether you’re awake or not.

Worried about safety? Rest assured, floating is secure. Tanks are filled with only a foot of water, and the buoyancy of Epsom salts keeps you afloat. Our tanks are designed with safety in mind, featuring easy-to-open doors for a quick exit if needed.

Sleeping in a float tank is not only possible but also encouraged. Some even think about replacing beds with tanks, given the similar physical and mental benefits of an hour’s float to six hours of sleep.

Floating and sleep share intertwined benefits, promoting regular sleep patterns and aiding in the body’s repair processes.
